IDR is seeking a Data Engineer - GIS to join one of our top clients for an opportunity in Greenwood Village, CO. This role is within a team focused on Big Data and geospatial data processing, offering a chance to work on innovative data ingestion and optimization solutions using AWS services and GIS technologies.
Position Overview for the Data Engineer - GIS:
- Responsible for monitoring and ensuring the accuracy and completeness of ETL processes involving large-scale datasets.
- Architecting and integrating new datasets into existing data pipelines with a focus on spatial data.
- Optimizing and tuning data workflows in AWS for cost-efficiency and performance improvements.
- Creating automated monitoring systems for ongoing data pipeline health.
- Collaborating on code reviews and establishing best practices for data engineering within the team.
Requirements for the Data Engineer - GIS:
- 7+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
- Strong experience with Big Data technologies, including SQL, Python, Spark/Scala, and AWS (S3, EMR, Step Functions, Airflow).
- Proven experience working with spatial/geospatial data (PostGIS, Oracle Spatial, SQL Server Spatial, BigQuery GIS).
- Knowledge of data encryption, transformation, and cost-effective job optimization in cloud environments.
- Ability to troubleshoot data issues, improve processes, and implement best practices.
