IDR is seeking a Principal Data Analyst, Financial Modeling to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. This role involves leading the end-to-end migration and automation of a complex cloud cost & usage Long Range Planning (LRP) model, leveraging financial modeling expertise combined with data engineering skills. It offers a chance to work on high-impact projects within a dynamic, innovative environment focused on cloud economics and financial forecasting.
Position Overview for the Principal Data Analyst, Financial Modeling:
- Lead the structural audit and migration of an Excel-based LRP model into a maintainable, production-grade Python environment within Jupyter Notebooks.
- Develop automated data ingestion pipelines for cost, usage, and rate card feeds from multiple public cloud providers, ensuring full data validation and auditability.
- Build a parameterized calculation engine capable of stochastic simulations and deterministic analysis for multi-year cloud spend forecasts.
- Implement a versioning and variance analysis framework to compare model versions, attribute changes to specific drivers, and generate automated commentary.
- Design and execute a Monte Carlo simulation engine to produce probabilistic forecast distributions and sensitivity analyses, supporting risk-adjusted planning and decision-making.
Requirements for the Principal Data Analyst, Financial Modeling:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a quantitative discipline.
- 5+ years in financial modelling, FP&A, or cloud economics roles.
- 3+ years of hands-on Python / Jupyter financial modeling experience.
- Demonstrable proficiency with Git, including code review in a team environment.
- Strong understanding of cloud cost & usage data, driver-based modeling, and variance analysis techniques.
